Dancexpression in action

After ten years of travelling the world as a professional dancer, I am enjoying passing on my knowledge and enthusiasm for dance here in the Algarve.
Born in the north of England, I was infused with a passion for dance at an early age at my local dance school, "The Nydza School of Dance". Though a small school, Ms Nydza has produced a high percentage of successful dancers through her excellent teaching of technique and artistry. Former students are included in the casts and companies of Stomp, The Royal Ballet, Birmingham Royal Ballet, The Mathew Bourne Company and more; gaining prominent, even principal statuses. I took every chance possible to extend my experience and attended many dance seminars, courses and workshops, even winning "Most Commited Dancer" at a BBO Concourse.
After the best grounding possible, I completed a three year musical theatre diploma at "Laine Theatre Arts" which is a large and internationally respected school. Former students are directors and choreographers; stars of Broadway and the West End; pop stars and celebrities. At this collage I completed all the highest level examinations in ballet, modern, tap and drama, including gaining distinctions for qualifications to teach from The Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing.
My professional career includes "Sesame Street Live", Princess Cruises, Costa Cruises, A Tour for the Chinese Ministry of Culture and Solverde Casinos.
From 6 years of age my students have the opportunity to enter a ballet exam (or for modern dance it is 7 years old) with the ISTD - The Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing. It is an international institution, based in England, founded in 1904, which provides support and associated exams in a large variety of styles in more than 70 countries.
It is certainly one of the largest and more prestigious societies in the dance world. Its syllabuses for young children up to advanced and professional levels, combine the structured learning of technique with artistry and musicality.
This structure maximizes the associated benefits of many years of ballet/modern training: physical fitness and development, co-ordination, correct posture, self-confidence, creativity, musicality, communication (with an audience, with their teacher and fellow students), spatial awareness and artistic expression.
These opportunities to perform are an integral part of their training and help to develop self-confidence.
In 2022 we starting entering in dance competitions, reaching the regional finals of “Portugal a Dançar” in 2023 and receiving 5 awards in the “Concurso Nacional de Dança” in 2024: a very good start!
